Slowly Alice smiled, she doubted that very much. Looks she had, personality too, but brains was her downfall. Alice had got to where she was in life by smiling sweetly, nodding politely and laughing in appropriate places. She was always surprised at how much you could get away with just using those tactics. Teachers, family and colleagues all thought her intelligent purely based on her knowledge of how to play situations.
Alice dreamed of being clever, making a difference in life, but she had long accepted her place would be the trophy wife.
